I have a Creative MuVo Slim 128Mb player and I'm trying to stick it in my USB port to put songs on it.

I plugged it in and Windows brought up the "looking for device drivers" dialog (I'm using 98), so I know it recognised it. I then got the CD it came with and installed the Windows 98 drivers it came with (thankfully), but now whenever I plug it into the USB slot nothing happens. It ought to come up as a new drive or something, right?

Does anyone know how I can fix this problem? Can I force it to check the USB slots for a USB drive or something?

Look in device Manager, does it show USB? - right click "My Computer", then to "Properties", then to "Device Manager", USB is at the bottom. Double click on "My Computer" (with the USB stick in), do you see it -prolly called removable storage".

This is what I see in my Device Manager:

I have the MP3 player plugged in, but when I check My Computer there's only my HDD, floppy, CD and DVD drives.

Try and remove all traces of the program and driver in Add Remove Programs and System Hardware, in safe mode, with the device unplugged. then after reboot, reinstall the program and driver before plugging in the device. After the program and driver is installed, plug in the device.
