The NY Times is reporting that Researchers and hackers are finding some serious chinks in the new OS's armor finding six major flaws, one of which allows someone to increase a user’s privileges on all of the company’s recent operating systems, including Vista. "While I know this is a vulnerability that impacts Windows Vista, I still have every confidence that Windows Vista is our most secure platform to date," says Mike Reavey, operations manager of the Microsoft Security Response Center.

theres been several other articles on this. I find it interesting that more and more flaws are being found in vista as it gets closer to being released. I am waiting for the big one that will delay the release again.

Gosh what a surprise, a product that is able to be automatically updated by the vendor simply by hooking it to the net without user intervention or authorisation has a big hole in it!

Whatever next?

A service pack released before Vista hits the streets?

Most see Vista as nothing more than a cash cow. Hackers are going to brutalize it.

Agreed Seth_ , there is a bigger resistance to vista than there was to XP out there in Corporate land. trade press have really tapped into the "don't even think about it till after SP1" feelings.

This does look like the biggest driver to send corps to look at the open source possibility - the licensing of Vista and Office12 is not being looked on favourably.

Widows vista, is probably going to be the greatest os but, i hate mac os, and this is coming from someone who used mac computer a long time before i used a pc. so its obvious that i would rather pick windows than mac os. Mac to me is pretty much video editing, it sucks for everything else almost(not exactly sucks, but pc can do the same or better for everything else). Pcs are used for video editing also, so to me mac can just do it a bit better because no one ever made a good video editor for pc beside adobe. But this is not about mac vs windows vista. I suggest you keep windows xp until a good service pack comes out for vista.

I run W2K with NO problems! From my point of view,There will never be a SAFE/Good OS; it is just like a car: some just run better than other's.

In this case, some are more secure.

the operating system is only as good as the user.
