I just reformated my other computer a few days ago and now I cant find the correct drivers to my ethernet card or sound card and have no idea who makes it or what model it is, I bought the computer all at once from someone, It didnt have the driver disks. Anyone know a program to search for the card type or one that has all the drivers included and instals the right one..if theres somthing like that I can burn it on a cd using this computer and install it.

Does it display the name of your ethernet card in network connections or in device manager? In the device manager window, go down to where you see 'network adapters' and double-click on it to expand the list, the name of your card should be listed there. To get to device manager in ME, I think it's start>settings>control panel>system>device manager tab>network adapters.
Look and see if it's listed and post back with the name if you can find it.

Just to be clear. You do or do not see 'network adapters' listed in device manager? Or are you saying that under network adapters it says, "other devices" rather than the name of your NIC? Also, you said, "if I remove it and restart it searches for a compatible driver and says it cant find one."
What do you mean, 'if I remove it?' Do you mean uninstall...and what are you uninstalling?...something called "other devices?"
It is possible that your ethernet card is not plugnplay compatible, but if your able to connect online it must be. Are you using this same computer to post on here or another computer?
Also, I noticed that you double posted, here and in the 98 forum. Did you try either of those two programs that dickster posted the links to, to find out the name of your network card? Please post back as detailed as you can.

In the device manager if somthing doesnt have the correct driver of is not properly installed it puts it into another catagory called "other devices" and puts it under a generic name, yes i have 2 computers i plan on using this one to burn a cd or make a disk with the drivers for my other computer.. im going to try the 2 programs on it tommarow i tried them on this computer which dosent have any problems and it looks like they might work

Oh, okay now I got cha. (also, I figured you were posting on here from another computer...you just never know, had to ask)
Well, I guess just try those two programs for now to see if they will display the name. You could also try Fresh Diagnose if the other's don't work for you. Have you also tried the 'add hardware wizard' and seeing if it's listed in there, aswell as troubleshooting?
If all else fails open up the case and get the name that way and/or the model number (if your comfortable with doing that).
