I had a problem of bbeing able to take my pc off stand by mode even through the power management, and then this happened,;) the last few times your computer was in stand by not responding,would you like to stop this from happening,yes or no I marked yes ,now where did that message come from?? since the message It works fine, but I would like to know who sent it microsoft or windows or what?

I don't know of anything with Windows 98 that would give you that message. It runs up a red flag. Do you have a firewall installed? If so, I'd look for suspicious activity recorded by the firewall. An free on-line scan from one of the security firms might reveal any spyware that has have gotten installed without your knowledge. Housecall is a good one;

Did you make note of what the message window said in its title bar? Was it an Internet Explorer window?

Thats built into Windows 98. There are issues with standby, especially with win98. So, MS added logic to detect problems with standby and give you a choice to disable it. I had a Gateway PC that did the same thing. Nothing to worry about.
