I am using Veritas Backup exec on our Win 2k server. I am getting a message "Access is denied to Remote Agent for Windows NT/2000 - performing standard backup. (You must be a Backup Operator or an Administrator to use the Remote Agent.) System State requires Remote Agent for Windows NT/2000 for backup and restore."
I am logged on as Administrator. I can not find any reference to Remote Agent in my reference book. Does anyone know what is happening and what I need to do?

Hi mickc,

could you tell me more about the veritas you are trying to use:

1, what is your setup i.e= are you trying back up remotely from another server or machine?

thanks,
kamal

We have 4 servers, one of which has the tape drive and the backup software. The backup selection includes files on all servers. Is this the information you wanted?

Yes, we purchased at the same time that we purchased the OS. Is this the source of the problem, do you think?

Hi,

It could be possibly the link to the problem you are having, instead of having it activated now, I would suggest its quicker to do a reinstall of veritas again, and do the activation then while you are going through the installation, with the experience i have found that its much quicker to reinstall, sorry but its better way rather than a patch on top, unless someone has a better idea.

please let me know, read the intallation guide, (very tidious) but its worth it, or why not give them a call and they might have other solution. Good luck.

regards,

kamal
