Well recently I ran a Cable from my downstairs computer up to my upstairs computer. Really hate wireless so I perfer wiring. The cable ran from one PC to the next is only about 75 feet long well with in the limits of Cat5. o ya i have a cable connection threw Roadrunner.

Here is the problem that i cant understand. When the upstairs PC in plugged directly into my Modem it gets a connection, but it is so weak it seems slower then the average 56k. Then when I plug it into a linksys router it get the message that there is limited or no connection. Then for the icing on the cake when using a Netgear switch I get a normal and perfectly fine connection. (the downstairs PC runs fine, no matter what of the the three setups are being used.

My question is what could cause something like this to happen? I mean i can work around it but it is just bizzare and kind of annoying.

Thanks for any help you could give.

Have you checked the cable? Are all its wires connected securely?

Well I would have thought it might have been a loose wire also but like i said it Works on the perfect on the switch, it connects but poor connection when directly pugged into the modem and get little/no connection when using a router. This is was makes it so bizzare and then the other PC on the network works just fine on all 3.

Also i have recrimped both ends a few times each just to make sure that wasnt the problem.
