Hi,

Does anyone know of a freeware or shareware program that will allow me to identify source of incoming / destination of outgoing data packets (IP address) and program or process on my PC that's requesting / sending information to / from the net? I'm using an external modem on dialup ISP.

I don't need to know exactly what data is being transferred, but I do want to know which program or process on my machine is sending or receiving data and where that data is going to or coming from. Might also need to know which ports are being used. Thanks for any help.

ZoneAlarm is not what I'm looking for, but thanks for the suggestion! I don't want or need an antivirus program, spyware, firewall or suite of programs that will do everything including tie my shoelaces for me. I'm looking for a small program that's not always running in the background, that I can run when I need it or want it. I don't want to have to install 500Mb program that does 250 things just to get some simple information. Surely there are some network techs (A+, Net+ certified admin here) out there that know of a good program? Thanks for your help

Zone Alarm free is actually good at that and can be turned on and off with ease. However maybe something like THIS (http://www.brothersoft.com/utilities/network/network_traffic_monitor_40025.html) would be more to your liking. I am certified out tha wazoo but ZipUlrich has taught me more than most MCSE's even know :)

Hi,

Network Traffic Monitor would seem to be exactly what I'm looking for . . . except that it only works on XP. I need something like this that will work on Win2k and XP both. I'm downoading ZoneAlarm free and will try it out. Thanks for the suggestions.

Also, see the tools listed under port usage in this post (http://www.cybertechhelp.com/forums/showpost.php?p=332544&postcount=1)
