Hi There,
Can somebody please provide me with some info/tips on building a Cybercafe and Gamingcenter ? want to know what the best configuration is for Internet connectivity and hardware / network requirements. This will be used for 20 users "10 for Internetcafe and the other 10 is for Onlinegamming"
Kind Regards

im thinking 2 16 port switches connected to a router
one for the internet side and one for the gaming side
get 24 or 32 if you allow ppl to bring in PCs or think about adding more PCs
probably 100MBps link would do for the PCs, a gigabit link to the router, so make sure the switches hace a gigabit uplink
wireless router if you want ppl to use wireless aswell (like wireless hotspot)
you may need a file server somewhere

and what about the internet line, what kind of connection type do you advice? and also what kind/spec's for the "Router, Switches, Gaming pc's, Internet Pc's" ?
I would really want to thank you for your help, really appreciate it.

i have the occasional garage lan and have talked to others who have help larger lans...
router i think should be a gigabit router
Switches should suport 100Mbps/fast Ethernet and have a gigabit uplink
i think you need a cable or ADSL2/2+ connection not really sure what net cafes use
Internet PCs, just browsing the internet?
fortunately those comps will be cheap
i think the usual 17" LCD screen would do
cheap optical mice with scroll wheels
basick keyboard
for the PC itself, probably a low end system maybe with extra RAM dont need much HDD space
so...
Sempron 2500-3000, 512MB RAM maybe 1 GB, onboard video would do, 40/80G HDD, CD/DVD ROM, floppy, case with front USB and audio
theres a way to do a network boot, i havent tried it but you may want to look into it
For Gaming
well thats more expensive...
we need your max budget there per PC
im guessing Core 2 Duo 6400 atleast
1GB RAM atleast
Geforce 7600
the HDD can still be around 80G, i think running the games through the network would be slow, maybe install on each computer
case with front panel USB and audio, CD/DVD drive
17" LCD or larger, 8ms response
standard keyboard should do, maybe a higher quality mouse
you will need some sort of license from microsoft and other software companies so that you can install thier program onto multiple computers, if you can get such a license, it maybe possible to have an image of one HDD for 1 PC and put that image on other PCs, aslong as the other PCs are the same or similar. one Set for internet PCs and one for Gaming PCs that way you can restore the PCs easily through the network if one gets screwed over by spyware or viruses
fileserver may be needed for network boot for the internet PCs
