I had AVG free edition on my computer when i first got it, it works pretty well and its easy to use. You can just go to the homepage of cybertech and scroll down under "new downloads" you will find the download for AVG

Installing an antivirus program on an already infected computer can produce a total wreck. Viruses are generally written to disable the more widely used AV programs and AVG is certain one of those. If there is a virus, it may (and probably will) interfere with the installation of antivirus software and that can mean disaster.

I recommend you clean the system up first, then install some AV protection.

To get it cleaned up, read this post (http://www.cybertechhelp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=86677) about how to get and use Hijack This.

Once you have a Hijack This log, don't try to fix anything, just start a new thread in the Cyber Safety forum (http://www.cybertechhelp.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=25) and paste your Hijack This log in for the experts there to analyze and help you get rid of the malware.

Please do not post your log here. Please post your log in the Cyber Safety forum (http://www.cybertechhelp.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=25) forum.

Cyber Safety is always busy but they will get to you. Please be patient.

to answer your question you can scan your system online for viruses using housecall (http://housecall.trendmicro.com/)

however, you should also do what was suggested in the previous message.
