hi everyone,
i wonder if anyone has the answer to my router problem please.
for some strange reason everytime i install the software for my new router it puts two network adapters in my device manager. ive tried deleteing one or both and restarting and it still adds another. ive tried disabling one, but that doesnt work. ive contacted the supplier of the router and they say its a problem with my computer not there software.

here are the adapters
Realtek RTL8139\810X fast ethenet NIC
Realtek RTL8139\810X fast ethenet NIC#2

ive tried asigning one of them a static ip address but that caused the pc to switch to the other non asigned adapter.

i would appreaciate any help.

many thanks.

What router software are you using? A router wouldn't really need "software" to install and it shouldn't install any type of network adapter. Next question is does the computer have an onboard network adapter built into the computer?

Some routers come with software these days to provide a simple interface to them. This software is not required as they have web or telnet interfaces.

Now back to bAdWaYz questions.

So starting the dhcp client server "set to automatic by default" solved the problem

A. Having two network adapters show up in network connections

B. Having no connection on either of those listed adapter?

Just seems like an odd fix for that issue.

yes i agree. but as soon as i enabled the dhcp client server to automatic one of the connection connected when i rebooted. ive also now installed a wireless usb stick and thats working excellent also.
obviously ive found the problem but i'd like to thank you both for trying to help me.

happy new year to you both
