I'm finally able to dual boot XP and RH Linux 7.0...but I have a few problems...

1. Does anyone know how to get RH to recognize my Ethernet card? I can't seem to even find a directory to configure a connection, other than dialup anyway (I have cable). I have a Linksys LNE100TX(v5) Fast Ethernet Adapter. I think the directory I need to get into is " /etc" and the file I need to edit is "XF86Config"...just don't how to get to it , nor what to do.

Also, does anyone know a good Linux forum to join?
Reason being, I have about 10 more major questions concerning configuration help. Start a Linux board David :)

TIA for any help

That is the same NIC I have in my Linux box and it was setup properly during the install process, although it is listed as a RealTEk RTL-8029.

A good Linux forum (http://www.justlinux.com/)

Thanks for the response and the link Ceh...Looks like a pretty good forum. I have to say, I think I'm going to take a break for now on this Linux stuff...I'm not giving up...but just going to 'set it on the shelf' for awhile. My brain hurts from all the problems I'm having with 7.0...I tried an older version of Caldera, had tons of prob's with it aswell. I need a Linux geek to come over to my house....any out there? he he

Thanks agin Ceh

I can understand taking a break.......I've been on one for several months now :)

While you are taking your break, try downloading RH 8.0 its install was the most complete and easiest of all the versions I've tried.

I was going to start downloading the 3 cd's for RedHat 8.0 last night...but I ended up messing around with 7.0 till about 9am the next day (this morning)...I wanted it to all work correctly so bad, oh well.

About RH v8, is it really 3 cd's?...that's alot isn't it? This (http://www.redhat.com/download/howto_download.html#download) is the site I was going to download from. Go down to where it says Downloading the ISO Images ...are those the ones I need (all three of them?)?

Also, what do you think about the new release of Mandrake 9.0 (or just Mandrake in gnrl)? It looks pretty cool to me...I'm sure it's not for the hardcore Linux fans, but for myself (Lx newbie), it's GUI looks pretty good and user friendly.

I downloaded it from one of their MIRROR SITES (http://www.redhat.com/download/mirror.html) and mine is on 5 disks. If I remember correctly I got it HERE (ftp://mirror.cs.wisc.edu/pub/mirrors/linux/redhat/8.0/en/iso/i386/). You may or may not need all the disks, it depends on the options you choose during installation.

I've used SUsE, Redhat and Debian....no experience with Mandrake so I couldn't give any good info there.....
