Problem going to a favourite website.
There is a site with the name www.help2go.com that I am used to go to. It has been a week that when I click my browser to go to this site a small box pops and tells me that this site is currently unavailable. I dont know how to investigate this matter. How can I be sure whether the site is temporaily closed, facing technical difficulties or has been closed. Perhaps there is something wrong with my browser or there is something else that is creating problem. Please tell me how to proceed. thank you .

link works for me. I checked their forum, and seems the forum owner updated to a newer version of phpBB on 5 February and maybe that is causing some of the problems you are experiencing.
You can get a hold of them at staff@help2go.com |

I have emailed to staff@help2go.com and waiting for their reply.
In the find box I typed hosts and clicked at find now. Results showed two files. 1. hosts.sam 2. lmhosts.sam Please tell me if these are the filed I have to edit. Which one of these is the one I need to edit. Please note that both of these files have extensions. Both these files belong to c:\windows. Thanks for helping me. |

neither is the file that jtdoom is referring to. Both of those are sample files of how a host and lmhost should be built, but neither are used in the way they are currently setup.
Since you did a search and found ojnly those 2 versions of the hosts file, I don't believe you are blocking out the site on your system, but rather experiencing a problem with your browser integrating with the new site. What browser are you using? |

For most of the time I use internet explorer version 6.
I checked with my other two browsers ie mozilla and opera 6.04 and found them behaving in the same way. Both of the browsers showed me all the sites I went to but they did not show me help2go forum site. I removed the help2go cookie from mozilla and tried to connect but it still did not show help2go. Help2go site has responded to my email. They sent me a url and instructed me to report the error message back in case it did not connect me. I tried the URL and it did not connect me and I have sent the message to them. Right now I am waiting for their reply. the error message was internet explorer---the page cannot be displayed . The site might be facing technical difficulties or you may need to change your browser settings. At the bottom of the page was written ' cannot find server or DNS error ' thank you for kind help. I will report back as soon as I recieve a message form help2go site. |

This could be a problem with your ISP, rather than the website.
If the site has made some major changes it's possible they have also changed their IP address/host. IP address changes can take a while to replicate through all ISP DNS servers (the things that translate www.help2go.com into the 64.38.234.90 IP address). Your's probably hasn't updated yet. Try pinging www.help2go.com from a DOS box. What IP comes up? However it also appears the server hosting the site shares that IP address so you can't reach the site by typing in http://64.38.234.90

I tried pinging to the site . No success. I saw a dos window with just one blinking dash sign. No adress in words or numbers. After that I pinged yahoo and others . All replied.
As I am connected to the internet through a lan network, I think I should contact my administrator. Contacting him might take some time. thanks for help. |

Proably is a good idea to talk to the network admin, may be some local problem that they're aware of
