Pixel and colors problem

I have Windows 98, My computer check up said that my hard drive is 85% full. I went in and deleted many items I do not use. I uninstalled AOL Optimum and then tried to reinstall, it said that a key component was either missing or damaged. I then installed AOL Security, when I turned the compter back on the pixels were in the 400,600, 800 range and the colors were 16 bit. I tried coing into the control panel and move the pixels and cors to where they should be but it will not allow me. Now I am suffering with lousy reolution, averything is much bigger than it should be, what can I do? Thanks.

I would try clicking on start, shut down, restart in msdos mode, and then when the black screen shows up type in scanreg/restore and choose a date when your computer was fine

You need to reinstall the video card drivers to fix the display problem. It's possible they got deleted during the cleanup. If that's the case, they will no longer be on the harddrive. If the computer didn't come with a disk to reinstall the video card drivers, you'll need to know the make and model of the card (or the motherboard if the video is integrated) in order to find the drivers online.

The scanreg /restore may help but if files the entries in the registry refer to have been deleted, some problems will remain.
