Smile MSN instant message..Help please

Hi.. am fairly new to computers and I need to know if my instant message conversations are stored anywhere on my computer. I do not want to save them. So what happens to them once the conversation is over? Do they disapear for good? Also cansomeone from another computer in the house view my conversations while they are taking place. I know these questions sound stupid but I know almost nothing about computers.Thank you for any help.

Some IM clients have an option to store, save, or archive convo's. If you want to use that option in MSN you can...

In MSN Messenger, select the Tools menu, Options... menu item, and then the Messages tab. At the bottom of the dialog is an item labeled: Message History. Select it, and all your conversations will be recorded in the directory listed in the box bellow. (Of course you can set that to be whatever you like, but the default directory is probably fine for most.)

If you do not want that to happen just don't activate it "its off by default".

As far as anyone in the house on another computer looking at your MSN convo's the short answer is no. If they have remote control software they could watch everything you do but you would be able to see that. Most casual users wouldn't bother to even do that but if you are trying to hide something chances are there are folks out there looking for it.

I do not use Microsoft Windows Messenger or LIVE! but I believe they do save themselves to the computer. Yahoo Messenger also saves your conversations. Usually, they are located in the program's Directory C:\Program Files\??? C Being your default Hard Drive and ??? being the program your using. Browse through those folders or you may also be able to delete them through the program itself if you go through it's Preferences and/or Options under Log/Archive/History anything of that sort.

The person you are talking to may have the option to save messages on so that would mean they do have a copy of it. If not then once its over its over. I'd still be careful of what you say on any IM client or email, or anything computer related.
