I activated the Adminstrator Account as I didn't realise what it was. It is annoying me and I do not know how to turn the feature off. I obviously know the pass word but can't seem to get it to turn off!

Start | Settings | Control Panel | User Accounts. From there it'll be easy.

What can't be done?

If you are using WindowsXP, and don't want the Admin account and your account, click the Administrator Account icon and choose Change my name. Change it to your own, and delete your own account. You'll then have the one account, with you as Administrator. Or is that not what you're after?

No I am the Administrator but it annoys me I have to log in every time. I set it up by mistake. :hmm: I am the only one who uses the computer I know it is only a small thing.:dizzy: Thanks for your help.

Mind getting into the registry? If not, take a read here (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315231/en-us) for a solution.

It's a lot easier than that Microsoft site makes it out to be...if all you want to do is make XP boot on into your user account without stopping and making you click on anything.

1. Go to Start>Run
2. Type "control userpasswords2" (without the quotes), click OK
3. In the window that opens, uncheck "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer," click OK.
4. In the window that opens, enter the name of the account you want it to boot into automatically and its password. If that account has no password, leave the password field blank.
5. Click OK

That should do it.

I did that and I was locked out. I had to spend an hour on the phone to Dell to sort the matter out. But thanks anyway for trying to help.
