safe to remove?

when i go to add or remove programs i have 3 entries for j2se runtime 5.0 environment, they are updates 6, 9 and 10. is it safe to remove 6 and 9? i also have the entry macromedia flash player 8, but flash player is on the adobe site are they different things?

edit: when i check adobe it says i have the latest flash player installed. what i want to know is can i remove the macromedia one?

Adobe and Macromedia are one in the same. Adobe bought Macromedia in 2005. So, no, they aren't two different things.

As far as removing older versions of Java, see this page (http://www.java.com/en/download/faq/5000070400.xml).

ok thanks. got rid of them all, had to use adobes uninstaller for the flash though, then just installed the newest version.
