A friend of mine lives in a very rural area and has been using dial-up for the last ten years,
with no problems other than slow.

Two weeks ago he signed for:
http://www.bamawisp.net/home.php
he can download pages but it some times pauses for about 20 seconds before the page loads.
So we checked his upload speed and it peaks from 4 to 10 with a download speed of about 151kbs.
which is low compared to my charter cable connection.

The big problem is now when he tries to get Windows Updates he gets this:

Went through all the Microsoft suggested fixes and nothing helps.
bamawisp.net seems to think it has to do with his low upload speed
and there trying figure out a way to increase it.
I was wondering if the low upload speed could really be the problem?

Any thoughts would would be appreciated.

Thanks dammit for the response.

I'll take the page to my friends house tomorrow and try the fixes.
I'll let you know it turns out.

Thanks dammit for the information but it turned out
to be SpyBot that was blocking. He said
after unchecking or removing a couple of items
he got all 65 updates.
Thanks Again
