Hi all!
I am trying to DL'd Win98 bootdisk from bootdisk.com so I can run the fdisk and format utilities, but it wont work. I've DL'd it to a formatted floppy and rebooted but I get a message saying to insert a bootable disk in the drive and hit any key.
Why is this? Any advice?

first , I would recommend the ULTIMATE BOOT DISK (http://www.startdisk.com/Web2/ubd/ubd.htm) , i find that it works much better.
the problem you are having with the one you downloaded is , it's an "exe" file and needs to be run to create your boot disk.
transfer it to your hard drive , put a formatted disk in the floppy drive and then run the "exe" file. make sure there is a file called "mscdex.exe" on the disk when you're done. if not , do a search on your computer and add it to the boot disk.
also , make sure you have all your drivers before you fdisk and format.
good luck :D

Thanks.
can you explain a little more about Ultimate Boot Disk?
Would it work better for what I'm doing?

I think it works MUCH better. I've used it on 6 different pc's and the format and setup went much faster. it's basically the same as a regular boot disk but has other tools that come in handy some times. it also automates the install process and allows you to enter your ser. # , prompts you through creating your partitions and formatting the drive. check the site for more info.

There is nowhere in my BIOS configuration to disable anti-virus. At least I cant find it.
I have an Intel 845PESVL board.

I'm not exactly sure of that. Here's the link to the board
http://developer.intel.com/design/motherbd/sv/index.htm
I haven't flashed it, so its the BIOS that was pre-installed.
Can you tell what it is?

Here (ftp://download.intel.com/design/motherbd/sv/C1458301.pdf) is the Technical Specifications for your motherboard, including BIOS Setup information. It's a .pdf document, so you'd need to have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed in order to access the document. I have scanned the sections regarding the BIOS, and found nothing to indicate that the AntiVirus or Virus Warning feature is a option of that BIOS.
