I recently changed laptops. I copied the Outlook Personal Settings files (*.pst) of my old Lap Top and I overwrote the (*.pst) files on the new one:

outlook.pst

archive.pst
After I completed the file overwrite. I was able to see all my e-mail and my contact list, but I can't access the address book. I get a prompt stating that It is not possible to show my list. Outlook could not find the file or you do not have permission. And it doesn't matter from where I try to access the list. The same prompt comes up over and over. After I OK the prompt, the select names window opens up, but with no contacts.

I need help in order to fix the problem. Thank you

The proper way to port your Outlook data over to a new PC is to 'Export' it from the old Outlook as a PST file, then 'Import' it into the new Outlook. Copying from old location to new location by overwriting existing file is the wrong way. Exporting/Importing would have avoided the address book issue.

However, since you have a PST file from your old Outlook, at least the Import part of the process may still work. First put the PST file from your old PC into 'My Documents' on your new PC. Now open Outlook and go to 'File->Import and Export'. Select "Import from another program or file". Next. Choose "PST" as the type of file. Next. Navigate to your PST file in 'My Documents'. Follow the wizard through and you should have access to your old address book.
