Using GIMP, how do I change the text in a ,psd file? I have a banner image that says "Your Site Name", and would like to change that.

No text tool in GIMP?

Does the .psd file have multiple layers?

If yes, can you access the individual layers with GIMP? The text might be on a separate layer. I don't use GIMP but if it can access individual layers you might get lucky.

If not, you'll have to erase the text that is there and try to fill in the background that remains using select/copy/paste or a clone tool. Then using that background image, make a new layer to add your own text.

No text tool in GIMP?

There is one. along with a load more tools/features/whatever. But for me knowing how to use them is another story! :p

Rockboy. it has 4 layers and when I open the file through GIMP it shows layer 3, but I'm not sure how I can get to see the other layers.

There should be a Layers menu item and possibly a toolbar where you can choose which layer to view/edit.

http://docs.gimp.org/en/gimp-dialogs-structure.html#gimp-layer-dialog

What you will probably want is to copy the layer that has the background you want and paste it into a new image file. Then, in the new image, create a new layer and add the text that you want. You don't need to create a new layer to add the text but it makes it easier to edit if you want to tweak it later.
