did you partition the drive when you formated it?
How did you format it? ie; third party software, windows cd ?

I've never used a restore cd, (I Use hirem's boot cd to partition and format my drives prior to installing the os). However the windows installer should allow you to partition and format the drive prior to installing it.
If you've already installed windows, Right-click an unallocated region of a basic disk, and then click Create Partition, or right-click free space in an extended partition, and then click Create Logical Drive.
In the Create Partition wizard, click Next, click Primary Partition, Extended Partition, or Logical Drive, and then follow the instructions on your screen.
