I have a Logitech Wingman Extreme Digital 3D Joystick that when it is plugged into any of the 4 USB ports, it causes a BSD. Simply unplug it, then after the desktop appears, plug it in and everthing works as expected. I have a scanner on one of the USB ports and a camera on another, swapping the items to different ports does not affect anything, therefore the ports are ok (have the original MS drivers installed with no problems reported in Device manager). I have the latest Wingman software from Logitech.
The BSD message states that error occured in nnnnnn VxD ---- as though a VXD file is missing. I check the bootlog.txt and found that a Symantec Redirector file is missing (SYMIDSCO.VXD) but it is missing anyway so I don't see how this has anything to do with the problem.
Anyone have a clue as to the problem and a solution?

one guess would be, you have all your devices on your start up and you are overloading your usb you can unplug everything but your joy stick and see if it works, if it does, go to start/run(type) msconfig/ok/startup/uncheck your joy stick, camera, scanner click apply ok reboot, you will still be able to run those things when you click on them,

Thanks Cody580:
I have uninstalled all Logitech software (cleaned out registry, etc), have unplugged all devices from all ports (usb, serial, parallel), loading only explorer and systray on start up, scandisk, optimize everything.
When I boot up with the controller unplugged, boot normally, but when it is plugged in, the BSD so it has to be a bad controller.
I have run regedit, regclean, regcleaner, ultrawinclean, sfc, msconfig, msinfo, none of it mades a difference.
I requested help from Logictech and they suggested that I call their support line 702-xxx-xxxx not a toll free number. I could probably buy another controller for what that phone call will cost.

This is a new board so I have not checked on updates. I'll see if I can find some. But why would this work with other devices and not Wingman?

There could be an issue with the USB bus and this device. Installing the latest chipset drivers may recolve this issue.
That motherboard uses the SIS 745 chipset. I can't reach the sis website but here's the link anyway.
SIS Download Page (http://download.sis.com/)
Get the drivers for the SIS 745 chipset and install those.
Hope this helps.

Got to the support site and am downloading updates.
Contacted Logictech electronic support with the following: I told them in detail about the software and hardware, what I had done, etc. Now they need to know more by a phone conversation
(Note the name of the customer rep that signed the reponse.)

Thanks anyway. I could probably buy a Microsoft Sidewinder for what the phone call would cost me. Why can't I just send it back? How does one get a RMA from logitech.
The first 15 minutes are on hold while I listen to music that I don't
even like, the next 15 minutes are talking to someone who does not understand my english or I don't understand his, when we finally get though the proceed, I will be told that 'They all do that or that they are designed that way'. 45 minutes on the phone at 20 cents a long distance minute is not the way to go.
Why can't I describe the problem, then you propose a solution (like an update from Logitech or someone?
Thanks

Downloaded and installed latest Sis745 updates. Did not make a difference.
My next solution is to sell the Logitech Wingman to someone who can use it. Did I hear ebay or ubid?

At one point did you have Norton installed ont he system? If so, what product was it?

Yes, Norton System Works 2002 is on the computer but all programs have been disabled with StartUp Cop and MSCONFIG so that the only things loaded are Explorer and Systray.
