Hey Guys, I'm back.
I have been told that I am maxed out at 48 megs of ram on my Compaq presario 4504 by Compaq and other people. Is there a way to cheat this problem? If not, are any of those free memory boosting software utilities out there that are any good? I know ram idle won't work right and I am not impressed with rambooster or freemem either. Any ideas?
Thanks, John :)

Hi there,

IMHO, there is nothing that substitutes for RAM...period. The nearest thing would be the swap file. Rambooster does not create more memory, just clears out unneeded, left behind memory trash left by programs. :)

I agree with junky here, memory management software is like fuel saving devices, lots of anecdotal evidence but no hard evidenc they do any good.

Unfortuntely you have been told correctly, 48MB is the max for that motherboard.

Thanks Guys,
I guess I just don't want to let this antique pc die. See you later,
John

:(

There is no way around the 48 Mb. memory limit on that machine short of replacing the motherboard. The problem with that is that the odds are that you will be unable to find a substitute that will fit the case and/or mounting tray.

Hi Jmatt & Lynnm,
Thanks for the tip on Langa.com. It's now on my favorites list.
As far as the mother board, I guess I'll just wait a while and get a whole new pc.
Thanks guys, John :)
