The WU website recommend some priority updates for my PC but they could not be installed after they were downloaded. The installation window simply reports that the updates were unable to be successfully installed and the webpage reports that "A problem on your computer is preventing updates from being downloaded or installed." I tried to use the Microsoft troubleshooter website but the descriptions are all errors with numbered codes which i cannot figure out (and most of them applied to WinXP). I've tried removing the Softwaredistribution folder and then re-downloading among other suggested solutions including installing a Client for Microsoft Networks (If I don't have it, how come I was able to install a previous 50 or so updates before?). I need help please.

The Windows Installer 3.1 (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=889482fc-5f56-4a38-b838-de776fd4138c&displaylang=en) then reboot and try the Windows Update.
