Vista Beta any use?

Microsoft's PR company sent me Vista Beta2. I installed it, but had a lot of trouble with the resolution so I uninstalled it. I was just wondering if I could upgrade the Beta to a fully working Vista. I know a Beta has a limited life, but I just wondered....!

No,betas are not upgradable.
You will need to do a clean install with a release version.

Well, I am not surprised - just wishful thinking. The price of Windows Vista here in the UK is from £140. At the current rate of exchange, which I believe is about $2 to the pound, it is rather costly. We are not called 'Rip-Off' Britain for nothing!

this depends upon the current os you are running, I did not have to. I have winxp media

Actually, the last email I got from MS telling me they were sending my Ultimate soon, said I could upgrade my Beta Vista with that, without doing a clean install.

FWIW, I'm going to clean install though.

WinXP so I'll be getting an upgrade which isn't that much cheaper. Phone Lady I no nothing about Ultima unfortunately!

The DVD version I'm getting has all the versions on it, so it wasn't said specifically that you had to install Ultimate. And to correct you, my user name isn't "phonelady" it's photolady for a reason. LOL

The Vista DVD's have all of the versions of Vista on them. Essentially, there's only 1 Vista disk available.
