Good intel chip for gaming?

I know it has to be the one of the core duo. I saw a couple for near 1000$ and then some near 200-300$ a pop. Im looking for a great pcu without busting my wallet. Also can any chip go into a laptop? Thanks!

Core 2 Duo I think you mean. They are all fast, e6400 probably being the best , without costing too much.
