I currently have windows xp sp2. I looked at the vista home premium task list. It said that McAfee wasn't compatible after downloading vista. Is norton anti-virus compatible? What kind of ant-virus protection does vista provide? I bought Vista, but am leary about installing it.

avg is compatible and its free. I am using trend micros internet security. As far as Mcafees, 2007 is Vista compatible and norton is compatible.

AVG Free ends on the 18th February 2007. Norton is a resource hog. AVG Pro or Sophos are quite good.

dohray maybe you should read a little further and see that support for AVG free 7.1 ends on February 18. But support for AVG 7.5 free is still continuing.
