Appreciate some assistance.
Helping someone with a Compaq 7360.
It has one hard drive, but partitioned into C:\, and a "Compaq Partition" D:\.
If corrupted files (affected by a virus, or otherwise) need to be restored, should one go to this "Compaq Partition" to restore them through SFC?
The guy also has a "Restore CD".
Not sure which one to use...
Not exactly versed on Compaq. Not my PC of choice!

The Compaq parition is the diagnostic partition more than likely. You might want to check for the location of the .cab files, typically located in c:\windows\options\cabs. Start/Search/For Files and Folders. Type in *.cab and search c:\ Once you find out where the .cab files are located, simply direct the SFC utility to extract them from that directory.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info.
Seems you are right on target.
Was directed towards the following from the Compaq Presario site:
"There is not a Windows 98 CD included with your computer. The Windows 98 files are located in your system restore partition, on the QuickRestore CD, and in the C:\Windows\Options\Cabs folder on your hard drive. If you need to reinstall Windows, you can run the Setup from this Cabs directory, run a Typical or Full Restore from the QuickRestore icon in the Presario Support folder, or boot off the QuickRestore CD and run a Full Restore. The full restore will return your system to the original factory configuration. "
Looks as if the Windows 98 files are located in the system restore partition (presume it is the extra partition), the QuickRestore CD, and in the C:\Windows\Options\Cabs folder on the hard drive.
If any files need replaced, supposedly could go to the above.
