sfc /scannow now problem(windows file protection
My problem is ,that after running sfc /scannow it shows that my files have been replaced with unrecognised versions and they should be replaced,I put in the win 2000 sp4 disc but it isn't recognised .The popup says"you have inserted the wrong cd put in the Win 2000 professional, this is the same thing I am told ,as win 2000 sp4.
I then go into my computer and run the cd from there and it appears to replace files etc . on rebooting after disabling my firewall I run sfc /scannow to see if the changes have taken effect but they haven't,the popup still says"my files have been replaced with unrecognised versions. I have done this now three times yet it doesn't appear to show in "add/remove programmes"so does this mean it hasn't gone on the system,I didn't archiveit so I undertstand it can't be removed unless it's been archived.

Quote:
CD you are trying. By "title" I mean if you were to open a Windows Explorer and look at all the drive letters in brackets, to the left of each drive letter is the "title". Quote:
sfc /scannow is a pretty weak utility. In the end there are better methods for repairing win2k. You do need everything in order though like the correct CD and correct win2k serial #.
