Oblivion Issue

Okay, here's something really odd.
When I play Oblivion, about every 5 minutes (usually after going through a door) I lose the ability to move normally. Sometimes, I can't move at all, other times I move really slowly, other times I get stuck running one direction, etc. Gameplay is otherwise unaffected- NPCs act normally, and my framerate stays the same. It's very frustrating, because I have to physically exit Oblivion every time it happens, and sometimes even that doesn't fix it.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

Could be heat related, memory related, etc. What are your system specs?

And the odd thing is, the performance (framerate, NPC behavior, etc) is still totally normal. The only difference is that I can't move very well.
