So I got a computer in the summer of '05 and it was more or less plug'n'play with my home network, and everything worked perfectly. I went away to college that fall and it didn't want to work on the school network. My room mate called up a friend for his who worked for the networking department at the school, we got drunk, then "fixed" my network issues. When I brought my computer home for summer break it didn't appear on my home network and it couldn't access any of the computers on the network, but it accessed the internet just fine. I went back to school last fall, and now it seems I'm going to be home for an extended amount of time, so I guess it's time to solve this problem.

Here's my situation:

I'm using a Realtek RTL8169/8110 Family Gigabit Ethernet NIC.
My IP was dynamic, but was interfering with my modified Xbox, so it's static now.
My home network works fines, except the several other computer on my network can't access my computer and my computer can't access other computers or the printer.

Any suggestions/solutions/ideas on where to start looking for answers?

does your computer have sharing setup also are you using the correct network?

I recently had a network problem until I realized I was on a neighbors unsecured network and not my own on a laptop I was resetting up.

Sharing isn't the issue, I've tried sharing and securing several directories, and even though it's a wireless network my computer is plugged right into the router (it's a desktop).

Problem solved!

My Routing and Remote Access was turned off.
