I hope you guys can help me. So heres the issue:

Everything was running fine and smooth since my network was setup, but all of a sudden today, my computer (Windows XP Pro SP2) won't connect to anything using the net.

Whats odd is that I was playing an online game when IE couldnt connect to anything. Other apps using the net were still working but as I closed them, I could not reconnect. Nothing could connect anymore except for my game, which was still running smoothly. I restarted my comp and then nothing at all could connect anymore.

The other computers (PC and 2 Laptops) are connected to the same
Linksys BEFSR41 router and are working fine.

I tried hooking my computer directly to my modem, but had no luck.
The wires are fine, for I tested with the other computers.
Resetting the modem and router didnt do anything either. I ran a load of diagnostics and troubleshoots on my ethernet adapter and all said that it was working fine. The drivers for the adapter are working properly aswell.
Clicking 'Repair' on the "Local Area Connection Status" runs the repair, but it doesnt revive the internet. And system restore to previous days when everything was fine - didn't work.

I've been running my computer for the past year on a static IP while the other computers are on dynamic using DHCP. I tried changing my IP to this setting aswell; however, this caused my network adapter to say that there was 'limited or no connectivity' in which, before I changed it, it said 'connected'. I dont know why DHCP won't work either...

With a dynamic ip, I could not ping my default gateway, and ipconfig returned an odd ip address and a blank default gateway.
However, using the static ip i've used for quite a while, I can ping my default gate, and ipconfig comes out normal.

I honestly have no idea what the problem is since everything seems to be working, but still NO connection :dizzy: .

Specs:
--------
ISP: Comcast [Broadband Cable] (NJ)
Router: Linksys BEFSR41
Wires: CAT5 Ethernet
OS: Windows XP Pro SP2
Network Adapter: DAVICOM 9102-Based PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter (Onboard)
Speed: 100.0 Mbps

If you need any more info, just tell. I thank you all that reply.
And I really hope I can get my internet working ASAP >_<

Try going to start/control panel and run the network setup wizard.

I ran the setup wizard on my computer aswell as another one in my network.
I reconfigured a new network and I can connect to the other computers and vice versa (file/printer sharing and everything works), but I still don't have internet access on my comp.

Open internet explorer, click file on the menu and make sure work offline is unchecked.

did you try another network card or even replace the wire.

'Work Offline' under IE's file menu is indeed unchecked.

I have tried replacing the ethernet cable, and I don't have an extra network card, but I'll go out and grab one later and try that. Although I think my onboard network adapter is fine =/ .

Update: I tried using a different network card and everything is pretty much the same.
Just my thought, but I think all my hardware is fine. I'm totally stumped on this one =/.

I have had a router port lock on me before, especially with
a linux machine hooked to my network.
You might try unplugging the router for a while.
The plug it back in.
It will do a hard reset.

I tried unplugging the router and replugging it back in after a while.
No luck. My adapter did detect however that a 'network cable has been unplugged'. So theres no faulty wire connection either.

Something thats strange is that whenever I run applications that require the internet(IE,AIM,Ventrillo), they immediately respond with a messge like "There is no connection". They don't even take a second to try to connect.

I have also tried turning off both firewalls (Router + Zone Alarm), and still....nothing.

Do you think maybe theres some kind of unwanted software on my comp blocking me? However I ran my anti virus which came mostly clean.
I really rather not format my hard drive if thats the issue =/.

Any more ideas?...I've tried anything thats some to my mind so far...nothing has had any effect
::::

Also, is there a program I can run that would tell me exactly where my computer is having trouble connecting.
Or like...something that could specify what exactly is causing this issue...because its quite vague right now...

Some error messages I get when using several apps involving internet connection are: "Server name could not be converted to the IP address"(from AVG antivirus updater), "The requested resource is in use", "Internet Explorer could not open the search page"(from IE), "Unable to create TCP/IP stream"(from Ventrillo) "Socket creation failed"(from FollowMeIP Lite)

Does anyone know what those errors refer to? I'm a complete noob at this stuff T_T

When you say the AV came back MOSTLY clean, does that mean you had a virus. If so, I would suggest running Hi-jack. Your problem sounds malware related.

Well.. when I said 'mostly' clean, I meant that it had some faulty detections of accusing some programming software as trojans =(
Though a virus would be a reasonable answer to all this

Anyways, I'm not all that familiar with Hi-Jack, but I managed to download it, and run it from a usb on my computer...

I read a sticky saying logfiles should NOT be posted here, so where shall I post it? Can I send it to someone, or like just ignore the rule and post it here
edit: nvm I found the place to post it ^^

heres my logfile thread:

(and btw ty for all the suggestions so far)

Important Update: I was bored to tears with no net access, so I decided to try out a Linux CD I had. So I booted up Ubuntu( on the comp with no net access). Oddly, I opened firefox out of curiousity, and 'gasp' the net works...

I have no idea what this means however...Does this just confirm I have some kind of virus on my Windows XP? or like does Linux magically make the internet work? O_o
