This just started happening recently, certain sites that I go to like, angelfire.com, ezboard.com, snapfish.com, shockwave.com..the ads on the sites (not the pop-ups but the ads on the site) they don't work at all so the 'cannot find server' page constantly comes up and I'm unable to even view the page unless I refresh and stop it fast enough that the cannot find server page doesn't comes up. Is there anyway to fix this because it is extremely frustrating.

The sites may use progressive JPEG compression. Most current browsers like NetScape and AOL 5.0 / Internet Explorer 5.0, are able to display progressive JPEG images. Older or limited functionality browsers may not have this feature available, resulting in broken image links or missing images. If the GIF images are loading, but the JPEG images are not, the only fix is to upgrade your browser or ISP Software.
Otherwise, with AOL 5.0 or Internet Explorer 5.0, you can right-click on the broken image link and select *Show Picture*. If this loads the image, then the link is definitely not broken.....If it doesn't load the image, the server, your ISP, or the Internet connection may be overloaded. Try again later.
Sometimes, certain ISP's and some web servers may not send you all of the images if they are particularly busy and low on bandwidth. Most often, your connection may reset or time out before all of the images have loaded. This is a temporary problem with the host system, your service provider, or their connections to the Internet, not the site design. Try re-loading the page during off peak hours. If it loads OK at off peak times, then doesn't at on peak times, it is a clear sign of an overloaded connection.
All links to content on our site should be working. Hot-Links to ads or links to other sites may go down temporarily beyond our control.
If you are not getting any images at all, on any web site, check to be sure that you have image display enabled in your browser. Some people turn off images so they can browse faster. With Internet Explorer, go to Tools - Internet Options - Advanced Tab - Multi-Media, and be sure the box *Show Pictures* is checked. Then be sure to select *Apply*, then *OK*. Other browsers and ISP's may have a similar setting.
Hope this helps. :)

I can't get into Hotmail now, either.
I try to go to my inbox but it keeps refreshing with some tiny lil box popping up and then disappearing while Hotmail refreshes over and over and I can't stop it. I reset everything back to default but it didn't help.

Did you reboot after you reset the defaults?
Also before you reboot, try deleteing your Cookies and the Delete Files and all the off line content, in the Temporary Internet Files folder found here.
Tools
Internet Options
General tab
-----------------------------------------------------------
If that don't work you can try scanreg /restore.

Hi iTsJuStJaNe, Let's see if there is some unwanted 'malware' causing this. Go here and download and run StartupList.exe. It will create a log file, copy the log and paste it in a reply.

Click Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and uninstall:
New.net
Comet Cursor
GoHip (if there)
Then download and run Spybot-S&D:
Download Spybot - Search & Destroy
http://beam.to/spybotsd
After installing, go to the Online tab, and search for and install all updates.
Next, go to the Settings tab > File Sets, and uncheck System Internals, Usage Tracking and Tracks.uti. These settings are not needed at the moment and you can always consult the "Help" files if you want to experiment later on.
Finally, after closing down Internet Explorer, hit 'Check for Problems', and have SpyBot remove all it finds. (If the scan has found something, the list will show it.)
There are three basic kinds of results:
Red entries indicate spyware problems that should be fixed to avoid security and/or privacy problems. This is the only kind of problem that is preselected to be fixed.
Black entries are system internals. If you do not know what they mean, I would suggest that you leave these alone and visit the support forum for more information.
Green entries indicate usage tracks. It can do no harm to remove these.
NOTE: SSD will sometimes not be able to remove all active components in the first 'run'. In that case you will get a dialog asking you to run SSD at next start. Click yes and reboot.
SSD will activate before the system puts these components 'in use', and it will then be able to 'fix' the rest.

:\ Nothing changed. Hotmail and all those other sites still don't work.
I don't know if this will help or anything, but these are some of the addresses for the ads on Angelfire that are not working:

LOL..I couldnt view those sites anyway. Spyblocker blocks them on my PC by design.
They may be blocked in your Hosts file. Run a search on your PC for a file named hosts (no file extension). it should be in C:\Windows. When you find it, open it in Notepad and look for any references to the sites that you have mentioned. If you find any, delete them and save the changes. Let us know how you get on.

Wow! That worked! Thank you SO much.
Everything is working fine except Hotmail. I think there's a different problem with Hotmail. I can login and everything but I can't get into my inbox. The page just keeps refreshing and a little box on the left hand side appears and disappears.
I uploaded a picture of it:

So, basically, the page keeps refreshing and never loads and that little box just keeps disappearing and reappearing over and over.
A little bit after the thing with the internet ads started happening, this started happening.

Hi iTsJuStJaNe - I'm glad that i could help with one problem :D
I honestly dont know what the problem could be with Hotmail. Here (http://go.msn.com/HML/6/1.asp) are the standard fixes for similar problems from the Hotmail site.
If nothing there works for you, try going to Windows Updates and installing all critical and recommended software (not driver) updates for your system.
I know that a Security Patch released on 5th February caused this problem for IE 6 users but it apparently didnt effect IE 5. Either that or MS just havent bothered releasing a patch for IE5 as it is no longer supported. Maybe its time to update your browser to the latest version.
