Hi,

I'm making my own site and have my domain name forwarded to my free web space from my internet provider. I have it masked so my my domain name stays in the address bar up the top but dont know how to mask the tab at the bottom of the page to rad the same as whats in the address bar.

Also as the page loads, it says its downloading the name of my webspace not my domain (you know the little ticker bar on the bottom of the IE page that says downloading what ever, then says done. How can i mask this to say its dowloading my domain name and change the page tab to the same as the address bar.

Is this possable, have i missed something when masking my domain ?

Thanks for any help,

A computer numpty. :D

JavaScript can be used to put specific content in the status bar (eg (http://www.codeave.com/javascript/code.asp?u_log=7005)), but it's not advised, won't work all the time in all browsers, and is only a band-aid solution to a more complex problem - you have a free-hosted site, but you want it to have a proper-looking web address. You need to purchase a domain name, and point it to your free webspace.

Yeah i have a domain name and it is set to forward to my free space, also itis set to mask my free web space name.

But it only masks the name in the title bar at the top, not the tab on the bottom or along the bottom of the IE page by the little e just above the start button. Just wondered if there was a way around this.

as was previously stated, it can be done but it will take a little javascript to do it and it WILL not work in all browsers. If you are embarrassed of using free space, maybe its time to purchase.

To find scripts that help bypass this just check out this search. (http://www.google.com/search?client=opera&rls=en&q=html+messages+in+status+bar&sourceid=opera&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8)

My hunch is, your domain name simply redirects to your free webspace, and isn't a proper alias for it. You need one that will properly set its records to point to your space as the webspace, not a redirect.
