Modem Hell

I'm running Windows 98SE, with a Rockwell r6793-12 modem. Windows will not detect it, (I tried this with another modem, results are identical) after installing from Manufactor and Model list ~ nothing, cannot establish communication with the modem. Hyperterminal will not accept any keystrokes. In device manager, Ethernet controller and PCI communication device appear under Other Devices, they will accept no drivers. Modem is on com 1, no other com ports show in device manager. :( :(

You posted in win95. Oh well...

Just what kind of modem is this? You posted a chip set. You may be using the wrong drivers and software for it, sounds that way to me. Or...it's a bad modem.

What slot do you have it in? Is this a PCI type modem? Are there any jumpers on the modem card so you can set what Com Ports to use?

Need more info.
