Something that has always bugged me......lots of the files that I download (eg pics of kids sent by Dad, jokes sent by colleagues) appear as the Windows icon, so I have to specify what to open the application with. This especially causes problems if I then try to attach one of these files in an outgoing message, as then the recipients struggle to see the file too.

Why does it not save the file automatically? Is there anything different I can do when saving?

I am using Netscape 7.0 as my mail program.

Hi squash...sounds like a file association problem. What are you using as an image viewer?

Try this: highlight the file by single-clicking on it, then while holding down the Shift key right-click on it and you'll see an "Open with" option on the menu. Select your image viewer (the default is iexplore.exe in Win9x) and put a tick in the "Always use this program..." box.

Alternatively, you could use this great little viewer/editor - IrfanView (http://www.irfanview.com/). It's freeware, and you can easily associate JPEGs, GIFs and many other image formats with it. Let us know if this helps.
