I am new to web design and will be creating a web site using a site building tool (not sure which one yet) and basic HTML. There will be a lot of images and I have seen some sites where you get an error when trying to print/save/copy an image. Does anyone know what code I would add so my images cannot be copied.
:hmm:
Thanks much

hm, I think there are few scripts that prevent users from using right click and save image as, but this isn't the right solution, because you can still use download manager and download whole content of the site. Also you can use print screen and then just cut out the part of the image somebody wants to use, so there is not 100% protection...

There are a few tricks that make it a little more trouble, such as using the image for a background in a table cell and overlaying it with a transparent gif. (That might fool one out of ten.;)) The fact is that if it can be seen on a web page there's really no practical way to protect it. It's already downloaded to the computer's temporary internet files (IE) or cache (Fx). In Firefox if you go to Page Info/media, it can be saved from there even if it has a no-rightclick script.

As Rockboy posts, if the image is visible it can be taken. There is absolutely no fool-proof method to prevent images from being taken. For this reason, I suggest simply putting a copyright notice on them and not worrying about any of the no-right-click, or other hacks.

basically if you do not what the image to be copied, dont post it. The only thing you can do is to mar the graphic by actually write the words copyright across the actual photo making it worthless.
