I just got a Dell Dimension V400 With win98 SE from a Customer all it needed was memory and it works but I cant see it on my Windows XP network , I can ping the XP systems from it and the XP systems can ping the 98 System but I cant see any of the drives .

Damm I feel foolish 12 Years in the field and I had File and Print Sharing off on the 98 System . :-(

Is it a router your on?
Update your driver from win98 and XP.

They are on a Switch that also has a Router on it

^^^ I was wondering myself .
Until I get a solution to this I put in a Old Hard drive and I am installing Windows 2000 Server I just hope that I don't have trouble finding drivers .

Err Yes , I was not able to share files between the win 98 and the win XP systems .

Can you access it by name \\win98machine\share_name? If not what error do you get? (I'm assuming both are in the same workgroup)

Cant access it by name and yes they are in the same workgroup .
Well I just installed 2000 Server on it but I will retry the Win 98 .

What error do you get when you try to access it?
