I got windows XP, and windows 2000 in this laptop.

im trying to format my hardrive, and i had to use the windows 98 CD to boot it, since this laptop doesn't have a floppy drive.

everything goes ok, blah blah, and i type "format c:" and i get " BAD COMMAND OR FILE NAME as a result

what am i doing wrong?? how do i format this damn hard drive

-EDIT-

add: i know there is a way i can do it with a FLOPPY. but my stupid laptop doesn't have a floppy slot... so it would all have to be done by CD. what can i do??

hi

original windows XP and windows 2000 CDs are bootable, and have the tools you need.

I think that is all the help you will get, as this sounds not too kosher

This is because some boot CDs don't have path to its(on CD) win98 folder in its Autoexec.bat.
Just change to win98 folder on CD and issue the command, this will do the trick
