I mainly use my computer for internet, email, watching video, pictures, and sometimes designing flyers and listening to music. I also use it a lot for keeping track of my expenses. With this new Windows Vista that just came out, I'm starting to wonder what I should upgrade to, Vista or just get a Mac. I'm a BIG fan of keeping it simple and ease of use plus speed and power. Right now I have a PC/XP Pro so I know how Xp works. Can someone fill me in on the pros and cons of each system? Thanks!

It's ultimately a matter of preference. Obviously asking in the Mac forum is going to lead to a more Mac-biased opinion.

Both systems can run very well and be great workhorses.

A few benefits Macs have over PCs are:
No Spyware
No Viruses
No Malware
Plug and Play for 90% of peripherals (no need to install additional hardware drivers.)
Macs can run either the Mac OS or Windows XP or Vista. Pcs can not run the Mac OS.

for what you do, either would be good. what does your future hold? That would be the best way to determine which. Getting and learning a mac would be a challenge but its a plus if you plan to get into the graphic field. If you are business oriented, then stick with pc.

Don't forget money, MAC is more expensive too...

But if money is not a factor....Mac might be a good idea for you.

New member here so thought I'd chip in because I did exactly what your looking at...Just bought a Mac. It is, or rather I should say will be, a nice computer. I got the 20" iMac. It is faster than my Dell and is truly more designed for the home user. Pictures, graphics, movies all much nicer than Windows. I also use Quicken for banking and related finances. Sorry to say the two versions are different and I prefer Windows version.

No question there is a significant learning curve. Because Windows is so ingrained in our thought process, functions and commands are a little difficult to remember. More so because simply locating what all the commands were was a little daunting.

If you have an Apple store near you, I highly suggest you spend a lot of time there. They have a program called ProCare that gives an hour/wk of personalized 1-on-1 attention. Costs $99/yr and worth every penny. The people who work in their stores are wonderful. Try that with Microsoft.:D

I recently purchase a Mac notebook and I think its a sweet little machine. I like OSX and found it really easy to pick it up. Most programs that you use on your PC, you can find the same program or similar for OSX. Its good to have the option to run windows as well.
