BT Home Hub vs Netgear DG834GT

I’m really sorry to bother everyone but could you please give me you advice in what is better please? The BT Home Hub or the Netgear DG834GT

I’ve been using Netgear for a few years now but about 8 months or so I moved to BT and got their Home Hub but ever since I hooked it up I noticed a poorer Wireless experience and also (this could just be me) a slower broadband connection

I kept my DG834GT for use as a back up in case the Home Hub broke but today (after getting a really poor reception to my wireless 360) I thought that I would try the Netgear router just to see if it made any difference

the first thing I noticed is that I got a better wireless signal right away, but the other, surprising thing was that the Netgear download files near twice as fast as the Home Hub

I download the new Display Driver from ATI and with the Home Hub it took about 2 minutes (download speed ranging from 188kps to about 305kbs) but the Netgear download the same file in about 50 seconds (download speed ranging from 450kps to over 600kps) but I did this test four times, each time rotating the routers so the file wasn’t saved in the web cache

At the moment I would like to stick with the Netgear, but I’m not too sure weather it is better than the Home Hub security wise, but I would be very grateful for any help

You should be able to dial into the router manually. Find out the IP address (or gateway IP address) by tying 'ipconfig' in the command prompt and type that into the bar in Internet Explorer. This should let you into a sort of control panel for the router

From here check that there is a wepkey present for it, if not, refer to the manual and find out how to put one onto it.
