I am unable to get connected to my main pc - which uses a netgear wireless router - thru the usb netgear adapter on our 2nd pc.
The usb adapter is detecting the wireless router but when I click 'connect' it just refuses to make that connection.
Any ideas guys?

is the driver properly loaded on the second PC? Is the second PC running XP? Is the firewall turned OFF

Are you using netgear software and what "access points" does the site monitor see? Does it say your modem requires an encryption key?

Basic question first....are you able to access the internet through your router wirelessly? If so then it might be the others computer "security suite"

Hi Spyder
Yes, am using netgear software on both systems and can access the internet no problems at all on the main pc. The usb adapter software sees the netgear router with a signal strength of 82%, but refuses to connect. It has made no request for an encryption key. I am currently not using a security suite. My intention was to download one from the web for this pc once it established an internet connection.

Attempt to use windows to control the wireless connection. Shutdown the netgear software and enable Windows to control the wireless connection (you will have to reactivate one of the services to do this)

Tried this already - no luck I'm afraid.

when you see the WAP, do you know if it is already connected to another router? You might want to uninstall the adapter, the software, and the netowrk connection, reboot and start from scratch
