I click on "downloads" at the top of this page yet it doesn't load. I got in by clicking "Resources", then clicking "downloads" on that page. Seems the link doesn't work in the forums only?
And the latest Irfanview is 3.85. What's here is version 3.33.
XnView (latest version 1.61) is a good image program I'd like to see added, in many ways superior to Irfanview (Irfanview has it beat when it comes to resizing images, though, because of its Lanczos filter). Versions for both Winduhs and Linux.

I would recommend the utilities from Mike Lin
http://www.mlin.net/
The two programs below help with Startup items which can be a real problem these days with virii, malware & trojans
http://www.mlin.net/StartupCPL.shtml
Startup Control Panel is a nifty control panel applet that allows you to easily configure which programs run when your computer starts. It's simple to use and, like all my programs, is very small and won't burden your system. A valuable tool for system administrators!
Startup Control Panel is compatible with all modern versions of Windows, including Windows 95, 98, 98SE, ME, NT 4.0, 2000, and XP.
http://www.mlin.net/StartupMonitor.shtml
StartupMonitor is a small utility that runs transparently (it doesn't even use a tray icon) and notifies you when any program registers itself to run at system startup. It prevents those utterly useless tray applications from registering themselves behind your back, and it acts as a security tool against trojans like BackOrifice or Netbus.
StartupMonitor does not require Startup Control Panel, but it complements it nicely. When you choose not to allow a program to register itself, the program's entry becomes disabled in Startup Control Panel, so you can go back and enable it later if necessary. StartupMonitor watches the Start Menu's Startup folders and the Run entries in the registry.
StartupMonitor has been tested on Windows 98, Windows 98SE, Windows ME, Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000, and Windows XP; unfortunately, it does not function correctly under Windows 95 because of some unimplemented routines in the operating system.
Not sure if you ould have to contact him but I would think he would be happy to promote his programs.

Another one here, it's a temp files cleaner. I've used this one for maybe 4 years now, tried others along the way, but have always gone back to this one, it's a keeper! :)

I don't see this 'Easy-Cleaner'* in the list which I reckon should be. It's by someone called Toniarts? As it sounds , it makes it simple to clean out all cookies, temp files, etc etc . One extra option lists all the duplicate files you have. Another free one I like is ' Tech-Pro Utilities' , which gives you a choice of several free utilities including a 'safe' for passwords and a 'sticky notes'... . [both easy to find via Google] *I've since heard that an internet site is charging for this but you can get it at MajorGeeks.com free still.

I think AVG has a new version (7.344). Also, did you consider a link to download Microsoft AntiSpyware Beta? You probably have to do a link so Microsoft can verify though. What about EVEREST Home Edition?

Or you could use Microsoft Office Online (http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/default.aspx) but it isn't a freebie. However, you do get a free trial.
