Suddenly online games won't load so that I can play them. Is there an internet setting that's stopping this? We use a cable modem and have no other problems online. The game sites load fine (as do all other sites), but when I click on "play" for a simple game like Mahjongg, it says: "loading....loading...." and doesn't load. No explanation given. Have always used these same sites and everything was fine until about a week ago.

Hi Cat
On these sites, what technology is being used? I'm assuming it will be one of the following - Java, Shockwave or Flash

Did you install any sort of pop-up stopper?

Thanks for your response to my question. No, I don't have any pop-up stoppers, and as far as I know, the games are java. I will try some of the others to see if they are affected.

Thanks again for the suggestion. We went to the site and updated Java, but it still didn't help. It is so frustrating! He can play shockwave, so it has to be something to do with java. We are networked and everything works fine on the other computer, but we can't find anything set differently on the other one. HELP!

Have a look at this site - Microsoft's troubleshooting Java information

Thanks again, but no luck yet!! I've tried every suggestion, updating java with the latest plug-in, checking out the internet option settings. I've done everything except the "clean boot". Can you tell me what this might accomplish?? Perplexed!!

Dear perplexed, playing online games from a network can be heartbreaking task sometimes.. question: have you or anyone made any security updates for IE??? is IE set for AUTOMATIC updates??? some of thoses updates can wreak havhoc on your settings. On this network, only 1 computer is allowed online games for some reason (details would take a page to write) I have to share my pc for online games. We tend to play LAN games now.. faster, more fun and certainly quite challenging. We have 4 machines on this network, imagine what LAN game can be.. In any case, make sure that network is accessible from any pc on the network, protocols are correct, none missing, network cards are fully functional (some lower priced units use CPU ressources to function, unless you have a major power monster, get something like link sys lne-100)
