I can't say about Win2000, but on a Win 98 computer
you can remove Lilo by booting with a 98 boot disk
and selecting from the menu Shift+F5=Command prompt.
Then at the A:\>prompt typing "fdisk /mbr" without the quotations.
Press Enter
This will restore the Master Boot Record.
The computer will default to windows at next boot.

Keep in mind without Lilo the only way to boot
the linux os will be with a linux boot disk.

Thanks for your reply. I tried booting with a Win 98se boot disk and using the fdisk /mbr command. When I re-booted I got a missing file message: system32\ntoskrnl.exe was missing. Tried to do a repair using the Win 2K CD and the ERD-no go. Finally had to do a re-install of Win 2K. I had backed up my data just 4 days ago so didn't lose much. The lesson I learnd was: Linux boot loader- Lilo - doesn't "see" an NTFS partition when configuring it's boot log. For a newbee to Linux, it's darn near impossible to correct the problem. The next time I try Linux it will be on it's own harddrive. ;)

next time check if lilo.conf is pointing to the good place. I have W2K and Red HAT 8.0 and they are boot working fine.:)

I have enuff machines now to not dull boot but i hade my SuSE box and mandrake box fine with XP as NTFS, your config was screwd up. I have had lilo krap on me befor, fdisk /mbr does whipe out the MBR record to default bot its a win98 default and wont laod your 2k OS was your problum. start baking your MBR up.
