are computers desktop or laptop. Usually if desktop, there will be a small antenna sticking out of the back. Laptop is another story - tell what laptop.
see this from micrsoft (http://www.microsoft.com/athome/moredone/wirelesssetup.mspx)
basically you need a modem and wireless router or a combination modem/wireless router. Some broadband companies will provice either. You will need a wireless card or adaptor for each computer. You can still wire a computer into a wireless router. It is best to have at least one thats wired.

Hi again nickf.
"Need the high speed for grandsons games."
If I'm understanding this correctly, you currently have cable internet on your computer and you have someone visiting (grandson) who will want to share your internet connection while he is there.
Now there are a couple of ways to do it but in all likelihood, the cheapest and most effecient way will not be wireless but a simple crossover network cable between the two PCs, however if geography dictates that wireless is required, then you will probably need to invest in at least 1 piece of hardware - a wireless network card for your PC (assuming he already has wireless capability). This will allow you to share your current cable connection wirelessly with him using Windows XP's Internet Connection Sharing.
Simply put:
Internet..>..Cable Modem ..>..Connects to..>..Your PC [set up as ICS host]..>..Your Wireless Network Card shares Internet..>..His Wireless network card recieves shared internet.

Very thorough Smurfy,Can you tell me how to tell if Machines have wireless capability. What i'm trying to do is let him get connected to the internet to play his games, without bothering my pc. Don't want to go through companys gear and occur monthly charges on the wireless connection.

Desktops + no antennae = probably no wireless.
Normally I'd recommend a couple of PCI network cards like these (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16833127145) but since this is probably only a temporary arrangement, you might not want to muck around installing internal devices. You could get a couple of these (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16833156152) and you'll be good to go:
