Norton System Works 2003 question....
Hello all,
Recently I had to reformat my machine. When I do this, I install NSW03 because I don't need a cd key (cd keys are on 04 versions and later) and because it gives me a year's updates on virus defs. Anyway, I went to use Norton Ghost to back up my C:\Drive. In the process of doing this, just before the computer rebooted into DOS mode to begin the back-up, there was a screen where I think I had to identify the disks in my machine to Ghost. I inadvertantly hit the wrong button and thus when the machine rebooted, it came up with an "Abort 40204" error and my ghosting process failed. With this said, after I could not get things to work (and I racked my brain trying to figure it out) I went to Symantic's website to find out how to uninstall NSW2003 figuring I could just start over and try it again. I downloaded the "Norton Removal Tool" from this page http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT...01091013435207 I ran it and then rebooted when it was finished. I put in my NSW03 CD and started reinstalling. It went through all the steps and got right up close to finishing and it got hung on "Installing Live Update". I went to bed and left it right there thinking I'd give it plenty of time to finish. I got up this morning and it was still right where I left it. I then went to Ctrl-Alt-Del and stopped the NSW03 "Setup" process and rebooted. When I got back to my desktop, the NAV icon is in my system tray with the red "x" over it. When I right-mouse click it to try and start it, I get a message that "Norton Anti-Virus has encountered an internal program error. Please uninstall and reinstall Norton Anti-Virus". Needless to say, I have run the Removal Tool and taken NSW03 completely off the machine again, and left it at that point to come to work. Any ideas as to what I could possibly be doing wrong??
