I am not able to connect to Inernet Explorer on my new PC. It gives me an error saying "There is no cable in your Local Area connection" or something like that and askes for a cable ot be plugged in. What do I need to do?

How do you connect to the internet...cable, DSL, dialup, something else? Do you use a router?

I have a cable modem connected to a wired router. For the past month I have had a problem getting online.Sometimes it just takes a couple of seconds and at other times I have to keep trying IE for about 10 minutes.Once I get on it usually works fine until I go offline-then the problem might start again. Occasionally it works fine for 2-3 days in a row.

Next time it happens, before you try anything else, power cycle the router. That is, unplug the power cord from the back of the router, wait a couple of seconds and plug it back in.
Give Windows a minute or two to re-establish communication with the router and see if it then connects. If the disconnects start getting more and more frequent, it might be the router going bad.
