Red face hotmail probs

Hi

My hotmail gives an irritating blip noise and will not open the file when I try to open some but not all attachments in hotmail. It appears to dislike picture files in particular. Can you offer an suggestions.

Many thanks Maz

this is in hotmail via browser or through outlook or equivalent mail program

of its via the program

go through tools, options, security, and uncheck do not allow attachements to be saved which could potentially be a virus.
as well,
uncheck block images and other external content in html e-mail.

if its the browser, its seems like you have a popup blocker, which creates that 'blip' noise.

Thanks for the reply. My problem is happening through the browser and my hotmail. I went into tools, internet options, security, I then clicked on custom level. I could not find the settings that you suggest to uncheck and you please advise me further

Cheers Maz

Hi there, What version of Internet Explorer or whatever browser are you using? If you are using Internet Explorer 6 then its just your version of the browser is trying to tell you that there is a newer version of IE (internet explorer) out. This new version is named IE7 (Internet Explorer 7) this new browser has not yet had any problems with opening attachments on emails in hotmail. My option is that you upgrade your browser as soon as you can. And IE7 has a lot more security fixes and other things to help stop viruses, malware, ad-ware, spyware and etc.. Please give this ago and let me know how you go with it.
