Hi all,

I've used a lower capity USB flash drive by Imation for a while now and have been very satisfied with it but now need to get something bigger. I dont need anythinng fancy just a storage device.

I got a great deal on a Sandisk but it came with a load of preloaded software that seems impossible to delete. Any sugestions on how to get rid of it or is it impossible?

Question two: Searching around online I see hundreds of choices, some that includes preloaded S***, and some that are not clear if anythings loaded on it or not. So any sugestions on brands/models that do NOT have preloaded suff on them. I'm looking at 1GB and 2GB capacities. As I said I just need a storage device.

All sugestions appreciated, Thanks
Mike

I picked up a PQI on ebay for $13 with nothing preinstalled.
Been writing to it alot because I am trying to make software
to install live linux CD's to USB.
Haven't burned it out yet.

just get any old USB drive anywhere
most generic ones (ones that done offer any fancy security) usually don't need extra software to run it

Welcome to CTH.

If you're talking about the U3 software on the SanDisk, there's uninstall info here...
http://www.u3.com/uninstall/

I used it on my 1gig SanDisk and it's pretty quick and painless. Plug in the flash drive, then run the uninstall exe. Follow the directions and it'll make it into a standard USB storage device. Make sure you save any data you want to keep first as it formats the flash drive.

I don't know what brands have what software but it's easy enough to uninstall the U3 software.

Thanks for the link, I'll see if works. Mine is a Sandisk 1GB also, I returned the other one unopened. Then started looking online and began to have questions about what was included on some of them
